AOD 9604 (also known as Tyr-hGH Frag 176-191) is a synthetic 15-amino-acid peptide derived from the C-terminus of human growth hormone (hGH), specifically fragment 176–191, with an added tyrosine residue for stability. Developed as a potential anti-obesity drug, it selectively targets fat metabolism without affecting blood sugar or promoting muscle growth.
It works by:
Stimulating lipolysis (fat breakdown) and inhibiting lipogenesis (new fat storage)
Acting through oxidative pathways independent of the hGH receptor
Preferentially targeting abdominal fat cells
Studies in obese mice, rats, and humans have shown significant reduction in body fat, particularly visceral fat, without increasing appetite or cortisol levels. It also shows regenerative potential, promoting cartilage repair and joint health, with research indicating benefits in osteoarthritis and tissue healing—especially when combined with BPC-157.
Administered via subcutaneous injection, it has a favorable safety profile in clinical studies, with no significant effects on insulin or IGF-1 levels.
Despite promising results, AOD 9604 is not FDA-approved for any medical use and remains available only for research purposes.
